Public talk with Timothy Williamson (Oxford)
Opening by Genoveva Martí (ICREA/UB, BIAP Director)
20 November 2024, Ateneu Barcelonès (Barcelona), Sala Verdaguer
Time: 18:30.
Title: ‘Collective Imagining’.
Abstract: Imagining is often regarded as something one does in the privacy of one’s own head, and as concerned with fiction rather than fact. In this talk, I will argue for a contrary view. The primary function of the imagination is cognitive, to enable us to discover aspects of the real world, and this function is often best served by a group imagining together, as a social event, rather than by individuals doing it in isolation.
This activity is organised and financed by BIAP, in collaboration with Ateneu Barcelonès.
