The Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation published the definitive resolution for the accreditations as a Severo Ochoa Centre of Excellence and a María de Maeztu Unit of Excellence for the 2021 call.

BIAP will be a ‘María de Maeztu’ Unit of Excellence for 5 years, with a €2M/4-year grant (01/01/2023 until 31/12/2026) for a collaborative project on the nature and role of evidence. Further information visit here.

Four research institutes of the University of Barcelona, out of the nine that have been recognised throughout Spain, have obtained the María de Maeztu award, which will represent 8 million euros and 20 pre-doctoral contracts. They are BIAP, the Institute of Neurosciences (UBNeuro), the Institute of Theoretical and Computational Chemistry (IQTC) and the Institute for Nutrition and Food Safety Research (INSA).
