Elena Miklashevich is an archaeologist specializing in rock art. She works both for the Tomskaya Pisanitsa Museum, in the Kemerovo Oblast and for the Palaeoart Lab at the Moscow Institute of Archaeology of the Russian Academy of Sciences.
Her research in rock art started in the 1980s, becoming one of the most acknowledged researchers in the documentation of rock art in Russia.
She has developed new recording techniques of digital tracing on the basis of photography. This technique has allowed her to identify a large amount of engravings that have remained unseen by previous researchers.
She has produced numerous articles, among them several for the Rock Art News of the World publication series.
Her areas of research are South Siberia, including Khakassia, Tuva and Altai. She has also researched on the rock art of Central Asia, with a particular focus on Mongolia, Kazakhstan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan.
She is the vice-president of the Siberian Association of Prehistoric Art Researchers.
