Lewis Dijkstra is the Team Leader Urban and Territorial Analysis, at the Joint Research Centre of the European Commission. He is the editor the Cohesion Report, which analyses economic, social and environmental issues in EU regions and cities. He is also a Visiting Professor in Practice at the London School of Economics.
His recent work covers topics such as a global definition of cities and rural areas, measuring transport performance, the geography of EU discontent, quality of government and gender equality. He holds a PhD in Urban and Regional Planning from Rutgers University, New Jersey, an MSc in Urban and Regional Planning from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a BA in Political Science from the University of Ghent, Belgium.
Elisa Giannone is a Junior Researcher at Centre de Recerca en Economia Internacional (CREi), an Affiliated Professor at the Barcelona School of Economics (BSE) and an Assistant Professor at Penn State (on leave). She has been a Visiting Scholar at the Minneapolis Fed Opportunity and Inclusive Growth Institute, a Research Economist at the Richmond FED and a Post-doc at the International Economics Section at Princeton University. She obtained his PhD in Economics from University of Chicago in 2017, under the supervision of Erik Hurst. Her research focuses on macroeconomics and economic geography. In her papers, she aims at combining microdata with structural model to understand and answer questions related to growth and inequality over time and across space. She is also a Research Affiliate at CEPR.
