On July 9th, 2018, Celia Melguizo defended his doctoral thesis titled " Essays on Regional Labour Markets in Spain” supervised by Dr. Raul Ramos Lobo and Dr. Vicente Royuela Mora.
The doctoral committee was composed of Dr.Héctor Sala (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona ), Dr. Ernest Miguélez (University of Burdeaux) and Dr. Viktor Venhorst (University of Groningen), who decided to grade the PhD thesis with an "Excellent” mark with the mention of Cum Laude.
This doctoral thesis studies the impact of the recession on the regional labour markets in Spain by considering three different aspects: the regional unemployment sensitivity to economic variations, the minimum wage effect on youth employment rate and finally, the role of the labour market determinants on internal migration.
