The writer Sara Guerrero will take part in the talk “Veo el monte. Le doy las gracias en su lengua”. She will reflect on the journey of the migrant outcast (paria) and defector (transfuge) when she decides to move from Ciutat de Mèxic to a small rural village of Mondariz. This is the story she tells in her first book, Eu son monte (Euseino?, 2024; I Am Mountain), written in Galician, a tongue she learned during her stay in Galicia. What does the foreigner look for when she arrives in a small rural community? How do the idea of family and care confront each other? Is foreignness limited by the stereotype of the migrant-as-subaltern? What linguistic and narrative challenges does autobiographical writing in a language that is not her mother tongue?

Activity in Spanish open to interested people.
