"Las oceánicas", by María Ovelar, with Miriam Reyes

María Ovelar presents her first book of poems, Las oceánicas (Ed. Valparaíso, 2021), with the intervention of the poet and translator Miriam Reyes. Las oceánicas proposes a feminist rewriting of children's stories to conjure up traumatic experiences such as psychological abuse, violence in all its forms and the disappearance of women from the narrative of history. It uses a confessional, committed and introspective voice that vindicates as well as questions the therapeutic power of writing.
 
Attendance is open to anyone interested. The event is co-organized by ADHUC-Centre de Recerca Teoria, Gènere, Sexualitat / Càtedra UNESCO Dones de la Universitat de Barcelona and Animal Sospechoso.
