Colonialism, Travels, and Body in Literature
The Research Project “Gender(s) and Language(s) in the Contemporary Arabness", in collaboration with the Project “Troubling Houses: Dwellings, Materiality, and the Self in American Literature”, organizes the 1st Simposium "Genres/Genders and Languages: Literature, Body, and Identity". Panelists will analyze the construction of identity in literature by drawing attention to three themes: colonialism, chaired by Gonzalo Fernández Parrilla (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid); travels, chaired by Amilcar Torrão Filho (Pontifícia Universidade Católica de São Paulo); and bodies, chaired by Rodrigo Andrés (ADHUC–Universitat de Barcelona) in the field of literature. This event will include the participation of Arturo Corujo, Nesrin Karavar, Mònica Rius, and Andrea Villar (ADHUC–Universitat de Barcelona), among others; Ana González and Hanan Jasim (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona); Giulia Spadoni (Universidad de Granada).
