40 years ago Edward Said published Orientalism (1978), the book which marked the beginning of postcolonial studies and which permeated cultural studies and feminist theory. How has Orientalism been read from the periphery? How is Said’s proposal still valid? We will try to answer these and other questions at the round table “Orientalisme, 40 anys després. Una mirada des de la perifèria”, coordinated by Mònica Rius Piniés (ADHUC—Universitat de Barcelona) with the participation of Gonzalo Fernández Parrilla (Universidad Autónoma de Madrid) and Anna Gil-Bardají (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona). This event will be held in Spanish. Attendance is open.
