Call for Papers
Crime narratives can reflect the problems and issues of interest of a changing society. Violence is among the burning questions of contemporaneity, but while the idea of violence seems implicit in the very concept of crime narratives, it is not usually analysed in studies of the genre, specially as regards to the representation of the forms of violence, its typology and its topology, as proposed by Byung-Chul Han.
The international conference "Víctimas y agresoras. Violencias y género(s) en la narrativa criminal" aims to analyse these violences from a gender perspective. Different sides of violence will be cartographed as they are manifested in literary and filmic crime narratives, with a particular emphasis on violences against women (female characters-victims) and also on violences commited by women (female characters-criminals).
All those interested must send an abstract of their proposed communication (250 to 300 words) in any of the official languages of the conference (Catalan, Spanish, English, French and Portuguese) to the address congres.vanacem@ub.edu. The deadline for the call for papers is March 30, 2018.
