Don't Look Away: Race, Sex, and Kara Walker's Pornopticon
Robyn Wiegman (Duke University) will give a lecture entitled "Don't Look Away: Race, Sex, and Kara Walker's Pornopticon". Wiegman is Professor of literature and women's studies, and her research interests include feminist theory, queer theory, American Studies, critical race theory, and film and media studies. She is the author of numerous articles and books, among them Object Lessons (2012) and American Anatomies: Theorizing Race and Gender (1995). The lecture will be in English, and it will be followed by a poetic reading of a series of translations of poems in English, performed by Marta Pessarrodona, Marta Pera Cucurell and Jaume Pons Alorda, as part of the cycle Barcelona Poesia 2015.
This act is organized by the MA and PhD programmes CRIC in collaboration with the Centre Dona i Literatura, as the closing session of the academic year 2014-2015 of the MA Construcció i Representació d’Identitats Culturals.
