Antònia del Río. Esporgats
Joana Masó (Centre Dona i Literatura), with Antònia del Río (artist), Carme Fenoll (Head of Catalonia's Library Services, Generalitat de Catalunya) and Aurora Vall (Universitat de Barcelona) will speak about expurgating, one of the regulatory mechanisms libraries use so as to temporarily or permanently retire books and other materials from their collections. Earlier editions of this project focused on library collections, however in this, the third edition of Esporgats [Expurgated] (2014), Antònia del Río continues to reflect on expurgating as a metaphor for managing knowledge. On this occasion, she will show a selection of materials that were withdrawn from circulation and are no longer for sale, consisting of catalogues of artists and collective exhibitions by well-known Catalan painters edited, since the 1990s, by the Department of culture and the Arts Center where they will be exhibited.
