II Jornadas Transatlánticas. Reclamar la palabra: escritoras, artistas y creadoras

The Centre Dona i Literatura is co-organizing the II Transatlantic Conferences "Reclamar la palabra: escritoras, artistas y creadoras", coordinated by Isabel Clúa (Centre Dona i Literatura, Universitat de València), Alba del Pozo and Beatriz Ferrús (Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona) with the aim of reflecting on the transnational relationships between Spain and the Americas from a gender perspective. Phenomenons such as the professionalization of women in the creative sphere and derivative artistic production will be analized. Concurrently, the transformations and exchanges genereted from the possible networks produced on both sides of the Atlantic will be explored. The conferences will be led by three renowned specialists: Carmen Simón Palmer (CSIC), Carme Manuel (Universitat de València) and Elena Madrigal (UAM-Azcapotzalco). These conferences are part of the research project "The first professional women writers and artists: networks of women and mythologies of progress", funded by the Instituto Franklin in collaboration with the group "Inventory of Prehispanic Myths in Latin American Literature" and the research project "Cultural Representations of Sexual Minorities in Spain". Registration is free and can be done prior to 24 February 2014 using the contact form or by email to cdona@ub.edu.
