Cicle expositiu Blanc Sota Negre: Blanca Casas Brullet
The exhibition "Blanca Casas Brullet: Fer dir" is part of the exhibition cycle "Blanc sota negre. Treballs des de l'imperceptible". Curated by Joana Masó (Centre Dona i Literatura) and Assumpta Bassas (Universitat de Barcelona), this series explores a number of displacements in works and creative processes that incorporate ellipses, discontinuities, silences and mistakes in selected works by Blanca Casas Brullet, Mar Arza, Freya Powell, Antònia del Rio, Isabel Banal and Mireia Sallarès. The aim is to exhibit works of art that reconfigure the space of the blank page, a primary androcentric theme that has nurtured the tradition of artistic modernity.
In this exhibition, the artist explores the process by which the image emerges, in places like the workshop, the work table and photographic exploration, and displaces formal spaces of exhibition, like the pedestal, the showcase or the wall, in favor of unfinished forms or sketches, from first attempts to rough copies. Super-imposed on the processual forms of the crumplings the artist produces through origami, the exposure time of pinhole photography produces effects which are both experimental and passive, expected but willingly uncontrolled, and which depart from the space of calculation and resolution.
