Holders of university degrees and diplomas mainly in social sciences who want to specialize in aspects relating to immigration management.
The course is also open to students with no prior university education, who will acquire the same knowledge and skills and receive a specific qualification for their learner group. Information on the access requirements and other conditions can be obtained from the course directors.
- To study contemporary migration in the era of globalisation and learn theoretical approaches to migration as a social process from a multidisciplinary perspective.
- To understand various models of multicultural societies, in terms of migration, integration and diversity management policies.
- To acquire a general understanding of the phenomenon of immigration, integration and diversity in the European Union and in member states, with a special focus on the case of Spain.
- To acquire knowledge on institutions of the host society (context of reception).
- To acquire knowledge of the most relevant characteristics of the most representative groups of immigrants in Catalan society, considering gender, social class and age or generation and the transnational perspective.
- To learn the bases and principles of public policies that address the integration of the immigrant population in terms of equality, redistribution and management of diversity. For this purpose, we analyse sector policies (employment, education, health, housing) and policies integrated in the local environment, with a particular emphasis on challenges in local public management.
