Jaume Belles-Sampera has
received the 2014 "Ferran Armengol i
Tubau" award for his outstanding
contributions
to the development of new risk measures
under the perspective of insurance
regulation.
The prize aims to distinguish excellence
in research of insurance and risk
management.
It is awarded every three years by the
Catalan Society of Economy to a
contribution,
thesis or study of insurance, from an
economic, legal, historical, social and
financial persective.
The Institute of Catalan Studies also
contributes to the dissemination of
findings on pensions and retirement to the
society.
A ceremony is announced on October 27th.

Applied Economics Meeting.

2014: Miguel Santolino has
participated in the XVII Applied
Economics Meeting, held in Gran
Canarias.
Miguel Santolino presented the working paper entitled "The dynamics of one-sided incomplete information in motor disputes", coauthored by M. Ayuso and Ll. Bermudez, in the XVII Applied Economics Meeting.
The Applied Economics Meetings, promoted by the Asociación Libre de Economía (ALdE) and the Revista de Economía Aplicada (REA), are conceived as a channel to disseminate and discuss research works that deepen the knowledge of reality through the use of applied economic analysis.

Mercedes Ayuso joins the
Institute of Pensions from
BBVA Research.

Mercedes Ayuso has been
appointed member of the forum
of
experts for the BBVA Institute
of
Pensions, which will be
sponsored by
BBVA research.
This
forum will conduct research on
social security systems with a
solid academic background. The
Institute will also contribute
to the dissemination of
findings on pensions and
retirement to the society and
will help to clarify the
financial and demographic
insights of existing pension
schemes. Other distinguished
members are Jose Antonio
Herce, Robert Holzmann, Javier
Diaz Jimenez and Jorge Bravo.
