Jaume Batlle Rodríguez has participated in a workshop within the framework of the International Virtual Exchange Conference (IVEC) 2020 whose objective was to present and develop Linguacuisine, an application with which users cook a recipe in the language they are learning. Linguacuisine is based on the task-based approach to foreign language learning. Linguasuisine is designed for learning foreign languages through the preparation of cooking recipes. The user chooses a recipe in the language they want to learn. In the application, the vocabulary of the ingredients and the utensils that must be used appears, in writing and orally, together with an image that identifies it. After that, you can follow the steps of the recipe from video fragments and with the words of the “cook” transcribed in subtitle format. The steps can be viewed as many times as needed. In this way, the user of the application carries out a learning task at the same time that he cooks a recipe from the culture of the language he is learning. In the workshop, Jaume, from Barcelona, cooked a Vietnamese recipe, while Alison Whelan cooked, from Newcastle (United Kingdom), a Catalan recipe that Jaume had previously uploaded to the application.
