Javier Llorente
Postdoctoral researcher
Javier studied Biochemistry at the University of the Basque Country where six years later, in 2007, he defended his European PhD in Pharmacology. Science has always been a driving force, making him move around the world working, for instance, in Utrecht (Holland, with Dr. G. Ramakers), Bristol (UK, with Prof. G. Henderson) and Barcelona (with Prof. F. Ciruela, 2011-2012). Right now he is a postdoctoral researcher working at the University of the Basque Country in the department of Pharmacology in Bilbao with Prof. L. Ugedo. He is responsible for the development of patch-clamp electrophysiology recordings in rodent brain slices, including some basal ganglia nuclei such as the subthalamic nucleus focusing on the study of the brain dysfunction in Parkinson's disease.
