  “Medicine” Doctorate Program

First course students

The student must apply for admission to the Doctorate Program. This requires an acceptance from a thesis supervisor, who should be linked to the Program, and a tutor, if the Supervisor is not a researcher from the Program (check the process for external supervisors), involved in one of the research lines form the Doctorate Program . Furthermore, it is necessary to show the approval from the Department's Director (only for “Pathophysiology of medical and surgical diseases” research line). Once the Coordination's commission of the program has met (check the meetings calendar), the decision will be communicated to the student, informing of a specific day for registration

Registration fees 2017-18

a) students entering master via official or two years of medical training or specialist degree (MIR , FIR ... )

Registration fee: 401,12€
Fee for student record management: 69,80€
Fee learning support services 70€
Obligatory student insurance (under-28s) 1,11€
Other requested services
Aids and/or exemptions for registration (family tax benefit, grant, other aids)

Documents to submit

Documents can be submitted personally in the Secretary of Students and Teaching of the Faculty of Medicine (C. Casanova 143. 08036) or sent by mail or inter-office mail to the same address

1. Students who have attended postgraduate courses or doctorate in this Faculty

Enrollment Application, which needs the approval of the Thesis supervisor or the Thesis Supervisor and the Department's Director (in the case of “Pathophysiology of medical and surgical diseases” research line). If necessary, the tutor signature can be required.

2. Students who haven't attended postgraduate courses or doctorate in this Faculty

A part from the documents indicated in point 1, the following is also required:

Photocopy of the Identity Card/Passport
Certified Photocopy of the Degree
Certified Photocopy of the Master's Degree (official master)/Research Aptitude (DEA-Diploma of Advanced Studies)
2 Passport Photos

3. Students with foreign degrees

A part from the documents indicated in point 1 and 2, the following document should be handed in:

Officially recognized Degree or the resolution of the authorization from the rector of the University of Barcelona (Check the procedure for authorization).

4. Grants and economic aids

Students with an economic aid for registration or a Grant must provide the adequate receipt (original and photocopy of the family tax benefit, certificate of staff member from UB or other Catalan universities, grant certificate…)

Registration 2017-2018

The registration 2017-18 will be open from the 3rd October 2017 and can be carried out in two ways :

1. On-Site

Once the admission is confirmed, the registration should be formalized in the Secretary of Students and Teaching of the Faculty of Medicine (C. Casanova, 143) in the specific days that were individually distributed.

Opening hours: from 9,30h to 13,30h from Monday to Friday, and de 16h to 18h from Monday to Thursday.

2. Telematic (recommended to avoid too much waiting time)

When the acceptance is received, the PhD student must inform us by email (doctoratmedicina@ub.edu) about his/her will to undertake this modality. Once the Secretary have issued the receipt, the student will be notified by email that he/she can retrieve and pay it through Internet, no later than 7 days because it will expire after this period and there will be a surcharge in the next receipt issued. Check the procedure for the telematic payment

2- Enrolment online

Open ONLY until the 30th October 2017

You will receive a e-mail of the School of Doctorate to the access to the aplication (is not necessary documentation)

3. Telematic (recommended to avoid too much waiting time)

Open from the 3rd October 2017. It will be enough to leave the required documents inside an envelope in the Secretary of Students and Teaching of the Faculty of Medicine, with no need to wait for turn, or to sent them by ordinary mail or inter-office mail to:
