The beginnings of a semantics and ontology of kinds is provided. Kinds are treated as particulars, not universals. The relations between generic plurals referring distributively to pluralities and corresponding kind terms referring to kinds is explored. Three sorts of simple predication are disintinguished, and the non-modal basis of the difference between accidental and essential predication is explored.
