Updating the mapping of habitats and habitats of Community interest in Catalonia

It is now available the update of version 2 (2018) of the mapping of habitats in Catalonia, habitats of community interest and complementary mapping with the collaboration of members of IRBio.


One of the novelties of version 2 of the mapping of habitats in Catalonia is that it incorporates four new fields that help to value the interest for conservation and the natural interest of the habitats: the global value of interest, the value of the degree of threat to which the habitats are exposed, the representativeness with respect to the whole of Catalonia, the representativeness with respect to the surface of the habitats contained in each polygon and the covering of the dominant habitat in each polygon.

This update has also led to the creation of the digital cartographic bases of the habitat units, both by unit of legend and by HICs (habitats of community interest). Currently in Catalonia there are 287 units of legend and 87 HICs mapped and can be consulted and downloaded from the Cartography page.

A new digital cartographic base has also been incorporated, the cartography of the habitats of protected natural areas at a scale of 1:10,000, which uses the legend of CORINE habitats and that of habitats of community interest.
