Towards sustainable longline in the Mediterranean

What is the impact of longline fisheries on seabirds? When there is more risk of accidental capture by fishing gear? How many sea turtles die each year from the activity of the longline fleet? Exposing the best strategies to prevent incidental catches of marine life and solve this conflict is one of the main objectives of the symposium entitled "Towards a sustainable longline ', promoted by the Institute for Biodiversity Research of the UB (IRBio), which will on Tuesday May 19 at the Aula Magna of the Faculty of Biology.
