Maintain and develop the knowledge bases on the Flora of the Pyrenees
Maintain and develop the knowledge bases on the Flora of the Pyrenees and monitoring indicators related to climate change (FLORAPYR)
The project (2016-2019) is the continuation of a first Project POCTEFA, both aimed to capitalization of resources on plant Biodiversity (data bases, herbaria, bibliography), and to new research on plant conservation under changing environments. It is conducted by seven partners, French and Spanish, under the coordination of Conservatoire Botanique Pyrénèen, and is also associated with an Andorran partner and CTP-OPCC.
At the University of Barcelona, it is performed by Dr. Josep M. Ninot and other botanists of the Institute for Research on Biodiversity (IRBio) and the Department of Evolutionary Biology, Ecology and Environmental Sciences (BEECA). The overall objective of the project is to continue and complete the Atlas of the Flora of the Pyrenees (http://www.atlasflorapyrenaea.org/florapyrenaea/index.jsp) and to monitoring vulnerable vegetation of snowfields. The main results expected from the FLORAPYR project are getting monitoring indicators and dissemination of floristic data, and communication and awareness on these issues.
