LiquenCity

The project will develop workshops, field data and manuals that will be distributed among the selected centers distributed by each district of Madrid and Barcelona. These materials will be made jointly with experts from the Research Biodiversity Institute of the University of Barcelona (IRBio) and the Real Jardín Botánico (RJB-CSIC) and will be made available to the general public so that any other citizen can know what lichens do you have near your home or your work.

When schoolchildren go looking for lichens they will need to report their findings on a digital platform called Natusfera. This platform is accessible from any computer or through its own app, and it is like a digital field book prepared to write down, share and validate observations of nature.
Experts and experts on lichens will validate each photograph that the schoolchildren bring from Natusfera.
Thus, a map will be created in real time of the lichens that are hidden in each corner of these two cities. All validated data on this platform will become part of the World Biodiversity Information Infrastructure.
