Global warming and coral reefs
Professor Terry Hughes is a recognized researcher in the field of tropical reef ecology, climate change and the application of scientific knowledge to manage marine ecosystems, for which he has received numerous international awards and recognitions. In 2016, Professor Hughes coordinated Australia's response to massive coral bleaching in the Great Barrier Reef. This year, thanks to related research on this topic, he has received the Prince Albert II of Monaco Foundation's Climate Change Award and has been recognized by Nature magazine for his leadership in studying the effect of climate change on coral reefs.
