Atlas of the Nesting Birds of Barcelona
The Atlas of the Nesting Birds of Barcelona is a project promoted and developed by the Barcelona City Council, the Zoo Foundation of Barcelona, the Catalan Institute of Ornithology and the University of Barcelona (IRBio-UB). This project was born in 2011, due to the interest in knowing where and where the species of birds that are reproduced in the municipality are found, as well as its abundance.
A thorough work on the distribution, abundance and situation of birds in Barcelona will serve scientists, managers and conservationists to find out what happens in urban areas.
The project has been carried out thanks to the participation of 300 volunteers who have been providing high-level field data.
The Atlas is an illustrated book. It presents illustrations of the 83 species that show not only the appearance of birds during the breeding season, but also that they fit into 83 typical landscapes of Barcelona.
