5th Conference of the IRBio 2018: scientific women in the field of biodiversity!

5th Conference of the IRBio 2018 is almost here, this year we will dedicate it to the scientific women in the field of biodiversity!

The conference aims to reflect on gender issues in the field of research, promote and give visibility to the scientific and its research. In the world of research and academia, women begin to be 50% in university studies but in the highest ranges they represent a 25-30%.
The day is structured in three parts.
The first will be an act of recognition of the role of several women who have been pioneers in the study of biodiversity in Catalonia through a brief biographical review of their scientific activity by the researchers and teachers who knew them.

The second one will contextualize the relevant role of these scientific women in a context of gender inequality due to the economic, social and political environment of their time and will analyze the current low gender diversity in the research.

The third part consists of a lecture on the inextricable link between cultural and biological diversity. The conference will allow us to know and reflect on the need to develop much more inclusive approaches to the conservation of diversity. This relationship is known as biocultural diversity.

The round table with three researchers from the Biodiversity Research Institute that will present their opinion on scientific activity from a gender perspective will be the preamble to invite the assistant to discuss this topic with the members of the table .

The free pre-registration is obligatory in order to facilitate the organization of the day, lunch will also be free. It is necessary to indicate before November 30 if you will attend lunch and if you will take a poster.
