Call for Expressions of Interest: Assistant Professor Position in Political Economy/Economic History
The University of Barcelona School of Economics invites applications for seven six-year Assistant Professor positions in Economics starting in June 2025. Promotion to full tenure (Associate Professor) is contingent upon favorable evaluation and governmental accreditation.
One of these positions correspond to the Department of Economic History, Institutions, Politics and World Economy in the following fields of interest:
– Political Economy
– Economic History
Candidates with research interests in International Political Economy, Comparative Political Economy and Historical Political Economy are especially welcomed for this position.

Candidates are expected to show outstanding commitment to research and must have completed a PhD degree by December 1, 2024.
The successful applicant for the positions in the Department of Economic History, Institutions, Politics and World Economy will have the opportunity to carry out research activities in the framework of the Institutions and Political Economy Research Group (IPERG) or, alternatively, in the Economic History and Development Research Group.
The main goal of IPERG is to foster the study of the role of institutions (from political regimes to parties and electoral norms) on the emergence of political order and stability, the political representation of individual and social interests, and economic development and redistribution. A second objective of IPERG is to encourage greater integration among various parts of the social sciences in Barcelona, particularly among political science, economics, sociology and history.
The main objective of the Economic History and Development Research Group is to contribute to a better understanding of the economic change of societies in the long term through the production and diffusion of excellent research in the field of Economic History and Development.
