This year the Logos Philosophy of Science people are looking at recent work on the time-honored problem of induction. We will read excerpts of recent books by John D. Norton and Gerhard Schurz. In the Spring semester we will also read some recent papers addressing induction from a more practical perspective, in experimental sciences such as medicine and psychology. In our last few meetings we will turn to the topic of scientific discovery and the question of whether it allows for rules, or even systematic exploration.
