Argumentación y circularidad epistémica (ACE)
En su texto clásico “Proof of an External World” (1939), Moore propuso una demostración de que (contrariamente a lo que sostendrían ciertos filósofos idealistas) existe un mundo externo (extra-mental). Aunque –aparentemente– sabemos que las premisas de su argumentación son verdaderas y sabemos también que de ellas se sigue la conclusión, la prueba resultaba extraña porque parecía involucrar cierto tipo de circularidad. Dretske, en “Epistemic Operators” (1970), exhibía –sin respaldarlo– un argumento con características similares, ofreciendo un diagnóstico del problema. Ambos razonamientos contenían premisas justificadas a partir de la percepción. Desde 1984 otros muchos autores (entre ellos Jackson, C. Wright, Davies y Pryor) vienen ocupándose de esa problemática, tratando de caracterizar nociones emparentadas de circularidad epistémica y analizando sus conexiones con la justificación perceptiva. Éste es el tema de nuestro grupo de lectura, que se reunirá cada dos semanas durante el curso 2010-11.
