in Analytic Philosophy

Elena Menta Oliva

Before joining Logos, I obtained my BA in Philosophy at the University of Barcelona (UB) in 2021, my MA in Teacher Training in Obligatory Secondary and Upper Secondary School Education also at the UB, and my MA in History of Science at the Autonomous University of Barcelona (UAB) with an internship at the Museum of Mathematics of Catalonia. It was while studying philosophy that I fell in love with mathematics and started to focus my research interests around the philosophy of science, logic and the history of mathematics. In 2023 I had the opportunity to teach courses in Logic and Introduction to Logic (UB) and now I am starting my PhD in Philosophy of Mathematics.

I am following the Cognitive Science and Language PhD program under the supervision of Manolo Martínez and Sven Rosenkranz with a thesis on intra-mathematical explanation and computer-assisted mathematical practices.

Besides my research in philosophy of mathematics, I am very interested in the popularisation of science and mathematics, interdisciplinary connections between science and art, and stand-up comedy and other forms of humour.
