Abstract

Perception is different from belief. But how? An influential suggestion is that their representational format is different: maybe perception is analog and belief is digital. Or perception is imagistic and belief is propositional. I argue for a new way of distinguishing the format of perception and belief, one that relies on the ways in which perception leads to action.
