Alain Arias Betancur studied a Bachelor degree and a Master degree in Dentistry at the Universidad de La Frontera, Chile. He works as an Assistant Researcher at the Research Centre for Dental Sciences (CICO) at the Faculty of Dentistry, Universidad de La Frontera. He joined our lab in March 2019 and he is performing his Ph.D. studies under the supervision of Dr. Ricardo Pérez-Tomás.
His current work is focused on the study of molecules that selectively decrease the intracellular pH in cancer cells as a new therapeutic strategy to treat this malignancy, since pH deregulation is a common feature that confers adaptive advantages to cancer cells.
