The most common form of printing is by the process known as letterpress. A shape is cut or moulded so that it becomes a surface standing out in relief. This is inked by a roller, paper is placed on top and pressure applied to transfer the ink on to the paper, The relief 'imager must be cut in reverse so that when it prints it is the correct way round.
