  Postgraduate programs
(Qualifications endorsed by the University of Barcelona)

Admission requirements

There are two possible ways to gain admission:

A. With prior validation of a degree certificate or a certificate of an equivalent academic level, awarded by a university or centre of higher education abroad.

Students must present documentation accrediting the validation of their degree and their acceptance on their chosen postgraduate program.

B. Without prior validation of a degree certificate (including degrees in engineering and architecture) awarded by a university or centre of higher education abroad.

Under no circumstances does admission to a postgraduate studies program following alternative B imply the validation in Spain of the foreign degree held by the interested party nor the recognition of this degree for any other purpose than that of studying the corresponding program.

Students will require permission from the Rector of this University, or the person delegated for this purpose, expressly authorizing registration on the program without the prior validation of their studies, as well as documentation accrediting their acceptance on the postgraduate program.

The procedure for obtaining this authorization involves:

1. Presenting the following documentation

  • Application seeking authorisation
  • Original or photocopy of DNI, NIE, passport or national identity document
  • Original or photocopy of degree certificate or proof of issue of the degree certificate
  • A statement of compliance confirming that the interested party holds the stated qualification and that all of the details provided are accurate, giving authorization for these details to be verified if it is considered necessary. SEE IT

It may be necessary to provide additional documentation to verify that the stated is qualification is fully equivalent to the qualification required to access the chosen course.

Document Requirements

  • Application seeking authorisation
  • All documents submitted must be official: issued by the competent authorities in accordance with the applicable legal framework in the country of issue.
  • Documents not issued in Catalan, Spanish, English, Italian, French or Portuguese must be translated as provided for in the regulations established by University of Barcelona and the competent ministry in Spain.
  • The faculty, school or course directors may ask for original, certified, legalized or certified true copies of the supporting documentation at the time of admission. It may also be necessary to provide additional documentation such as a full transcript of the subjects completed to obtain the qualification used for admission
