University entrance for students who have begun higher education studies outside Spain

Students who have begun higher education studies outside Spain and who wish to enrol in EHEA bachelor’s degree courses in the UB may apply for the validation of their study qualifications (note that those students already holding a university degree qualification from a university outside Spain and wishing to begin further studies should consult the page (University entrance for students who have completed bachelor’s degree studies or equivalent first-cycle studies outside Spain and who wish to pursue a Spanish EHEA bachelor’s degree course).

 

 

 

Validation procedure for subjects completed i degree courses outside Spain

1. Application to validate studies

In order to obtain an application form to validate previously completed studies, the applicant should consult the particular UB faculty or school or UB-affiliated centre responsible for the bachelor’s degree that he or she wishes to study.

 

2. Papers you should present with the application

  • either an official document accrediting the applicant’s nationality, issued by the authorities in the applicant’s country, or an attested photocopy of the applicant’s passport or Spanish residence permit; in the case of Spanish nationals, an attested photocopy of the applicant’s national identification card;
  • the applicant’s academic transcript, carrying details of all the subjects that have been studied, the academic years in which they were studied and the grades awarded;
  • an official document issued and stamped by the department, faculty or university school in which the applicant studied the different subjects in their degree, detailing subject syllabuses and providing such information as the competences and related knowledge gained, the number of credits carried and the hours or weeks per semester assigned to the completion of each subject;
  • an official document providing information on the grading system used by the university that has issued the transcript and document described above;
  • the syllabus of the degree begun by the applicant, listing the subjects of which it is comprised and stating the duration of the course in academic years, and bearing the foreign University’s stamp. 
  • any further papers that have been deemed necessary to support the above.

All papers submitted should be issued by the official body or bodies so authorized, and should duly stamped and attested (more information). If papers were not issued in Catalan, Spanish or English must be submitted together with official translations into Catalan or Spanish (Official translations accepted)

 

Applicants must present the original documents with their photocopies, but shall be returned the originals once the copies have been attested. (more information about Certified copies accepted ).

 

3. Result of the application

Once the application for validation has been made, the UB faculty or school or UB-affiliated centre shall determine whether

this is to be granted or refused in compliance with the current legislation.

 

Finally, the UB faculty or school or UB-affiliated centre will be responsible for informing the applicant about whether the application has been accepted or not. The result of the application for validation does not automatically entitle the applicant to university entrance.

 

The UB will only accept validations of subjects made as part of a previous application to study in another university when

these subjects have been ratified in the validation certificate.  

 

 

Application for a place on a course

The application procedure varies according to the number of credits validate:

 

For de applicant holding 30 or more than 30 validated credits

Applicants must apply directly to the UB faculty or school or UB-affiliated centre offering the course of study.

 

The result of the application for validation does not automatically entitle the applicant to university entrance.

 

The application for a place on a course should be addressed to the dean of faculty or director at the particular UB faculty or school or UB-affiliated centre responsible for the bachelor’s degree that the applicant wishes to study.

 

Applicants should consult the faculty, school or centre in question for information about the deadline for applications and the particular papers that will be required.


Finally, the centre will be responsible for informing the applicant about whether the application has been accepted or not.

 

Finally, and in order to start their studies in the UB, all accepted applicants must formalize their enrolment at the Secretary’s Office for Students and Teaching Staff at the particular UB faculty or school or UB-affiliated centre offering the course they plan to study.

 

For de applicant holding fewer than 30 validated credits

Such students must make their application at the Catalan government’s Oficina d'Orientació per a l'Accés.

For de applicant who has no validated credits

Such students should consult the page University entrance for students who have completed secondary education studies outside Spain and whose studies can be made legally equivalent to the Spanish Baccalaureate study qualification
